Scented Geraniums

Scented Geranium, HerbThe Herb Society of America named Scented Geraniums the herb of the year for 2006. They are fun plants with many uses: potpourri and sachets, the leaves are used to flavor cakes, breads and jellies, use the flowers as garnishes on fruit salads. Essential oils from scented geraniums are used in perfumery and have antiseptic properties. Most of them are fast growing and can be used as bedding plants, in outdoor containers, or as houseplants.

These are tender perennials and come in a wide range of growth habits and leaf sizes, as well as fragrances.

Grow them in full sun in well-drained soil. Water and fertilize regularly. Flowering is considered incidental to this class of geraniums. However, we have chosen varieties that offer nice flowers.
